Nashville sons The Prophet Nathan have thankfully dropped their newest release on us today. It's their first proper full length in a hot minute so it's been one I have been patiently waiting on. Since last time we heard them, they have added a bassist which has helped flesh out some of their songs a bit more. Hoping that this release proves to be the kick that these guys need because they are a pure treat and more people should be aware of their majesty. Alternative metal bent to the side while math rock hangs heavy. What I've always enjoyed was their use of space to either bring focus or to just dial back the speed a bit to focus on the vocals. Speaking of which the vocals are much more present and stronger towards the end of the disc which is certainly welcomed. Highly recommend this release to any man, woman or beast. Been listening to this on repeat all afternoon.

The Ace of Coins - The Fool (ep)
Anyone recall a previous post of mine on a group by the name of The Prophet Nathan? Well if your drawing a blank..shame on you and click the link above. serious math-pop magic.
More to the point however is James from The Prophet Nathan wanted to let everyone know of his OTHER super amazing math rock group The Ace of Coins. They just released their ep The Fool and I must say once again I am very impressed and for different reasons. Ace of Coins is a more song oriented sort of math rock and it prominently features vocals. However there still remains a grounding in pop rock as well. Instrumentation is still pretty complex despite this but does have to dial back to a more traditional format for the singing.
"The Fool" feels incredibly new but also a throwback to the golden age of math, the 90's. Its a winning combination that I imagine everyone having an easy time enjoying....so yea click the link and do that enjoying thing you guys do so well.

The Prophet Nathan
Get ready for this.... "Tennessee Two-some" as they embark on a stylistically interesting musical adventure. like some sort of math-pop monster that at times tears up the landscape with awesome drum and guitar. Other moments shift to some soft singing or samples but always the drums remain consistently great. Influences drip off the sleeve but there is a large honesty that keeps me pulled in. Not too mention the previously stated instrumentation. Both releases are well worth the gandering.
