Meadow Saffron - Leaving the Black Square (2008)

        Always good to go digging back through the back catalogs on a sunday night. Now you well informed math wizards and wizettes may already be knowledgeable about this incredibly solid album. Meadow Saffron hail from Germany and play a gloriously tasty math rock cocktail that in structure plays as post-rock. The cherry dazzle to this here release is deff. the well done vocals that are all over this beast. The rhythms are also top notch as well.  Enjoy and Smile.

Ah yes and I failed to mention I'll be starting a new section here in a bit. My 7 and 9 year old daughters are going to be guest reviewing some classic math rock tracks. I can promise that it will be incredibly hilarious and possibly a little eye opening. More info to come.

Forgive me on this as we are working a bit backwards but I was unaware that this german prog math group had a demo before my previously posted full length.

In my opinion this is a much more raw take on the group and is certainly the more impressive choice. Make sure to check my impressions of their full length above as well.

Bohren & der Club of Gore

You'd have sworn you've heard these songs somewhere else but your wrong, dead wrong. This German Jazz Troupe is truly what it sounds like to drive for hours at night going anywhere in the best way possible. This group which also has the slightly erroneous tag of "doom jazz" is more ambient jazz than anything else. The melodies are crisp and commanding yet soft and soothing. Its the contradictory elements that seems at constant work. Very awesome.
