Fight Cloud - In Augment

Creepy Cloud man guys. I suppose I would not want to fight him though.

Suuuuupah tight Math Rocks right here ladies and gents. These Virginia-born cloud-fighters just released their first album and its incredibly solid. The music itself is a very indie rock style of math and they do an incredible job of playing both sides of the fence. By this I mean the chill parts and the amped up portions are just as great as the other. Nice twists jump out as well to keep you on your toes but the true magic is something a lot of other bands seem to miss the mark with:

Vocals

Just some damn gorgeous melodies and harmonies here and it just makes everything all the sweeter. Even without the singing this band would be flowing aces.  Songs follow a pretty traditional rock form but this just gets strengthened by the vocals all the more.

Mr. Maps

WHY ISN'T ANYONE TALKING ABOUT THESE GUYS?!

Mr. Maps are an Australian instrumental band that focuses on some sort of orchestral math rock lite.  Highly calculated and expertly produced, this is an excellent release that gives just as much room for piano and stringed instruments as the usual rock arsenal.  A pretty unique release as far as im concerned in the realm of odd timed flim flam.

Vasudeva - Roots of The Tree EP

Quartet hailing from Brooklyn, Vasudeva have dropped a pretty rollicking EP here with their brand of instrumental tap happy math rock. The drums keep things driving along at a pretty nice clip not to mention a pretty varied attack. The guitars actually launch into some fairly memorable melodies (sometimes not often enough). If what your reading sounds like something you've heard before...chances are your not to far off. Believe me when I say though that its worth a listen. Perhaps with some more structural twists and turns it could be elevated to another level of awesome.
